Ascot Homeowners Association The Ascot Homeowners Association Board of Directors met at the home of Claudia and Mark Raffman on the 4th of November, 2004, beginning at 7:30 pm. Present were Anna Wood, Claudia Raffman, David Peirce, and Scott Rackham. Tennis Court As of the time of this meeting, members of the Board had heard from very few homeowners concerning their views on maintenance and use of the tennis court. The Board would like to hear from more Ascot homeowners on whether to pursue a general membership vote on a special assessment of approximately $260 per lot to accomplish a more thorough repair of the tennis court. Ascot homeowners are encouraged to contact the Board, by email, postal mail, or through any of this year's Board members, to express their opinions on the merit of investing to bring the Ascot tennis court back to a more appropriate playing condition. Members of the Board will prepare a documented analysis of alternatives for handling the tennis court and distribute it to Ascot homeowners by sometime early in 2005. Architectural Review Claudia Raffman submitted a copy of the layout plan for an in-ground swimming pool to be installed behind the Raffmans' residence, and requested architectural approval for the planned construction. Claudia advised that she had obtained verbal approval of the plans from the neighbors to either side. The other Board members present reviewed the plans and granted approval. As did last year's Board, this year's will act as the Association's architectural review committee until such time as other community members volunteer for that role. The Declaration of Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions governing the Association requires architectural review of construction on any property in the community. Dues for 2005 The Board agreed that Association dues for 2005 will be $115 per assessed lot. This had been discussed at the October meeting, to accommodate rising costs for common grounds maintenance and insurance, and was unanimously approved at this meeting. Minutes Approved The minutes for the October general meeting of the Board were approved as published. Next Meeting The Board will next meet at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, the 7th of December, at the home of Anna and Bruce Wood. Respectfully submitted, COMMUNITY NOTES: Contacting the Board Homeowners are welcome to contact the Board about the tennis court or other community concerns. Safety There have been some near-misses at the intersection of Bishopsgate Way and Burywood Lane. Those of us who live on Burywood Lane need to keep in mind that Bishopsgate Way is the through street, not only for traffic coming down Bishopsgate's length from the north, but also for traffic coming out of the cul-de-sac at the south end. There is no stop sign for vehicles coming out of the Bishopsgate Way cul-de-sac. Those of us emerging from Burywood, where we DO have stop signs, need to stop and look both north and south before we proceed. Speed kills. We're forever seeing the carcasses of squirrels and other animals that speeders have killed in our neighborhood. Please remind your visitors, or any family members who speed, that human beings also walk on our streets. Saving ten or twenty seconds on the trip from one end of Bishopsgate to the other isn't worth the risk of hitting someone. -- Please. |
