Minutes of Board of Directors Meeting -- Monday, April 19, 2004

The Ascot Homeowners Association Board of Directors met at the home of Jo and Scott Rackham on the 19th of April, 2004, beginning at 7:15 pm. Present at the meeting were Bob Naftal, Mike Lee, Lars Okeson, and Scott Rackham.

Common Grounds

Lars Okeson reported that SavATree had quoted a price of $2140 to trim back the leyland cypress trees around the tennis court so that they no longer touch the fence. The Board will wait for information on another quote that Alice was to get before selecting a contractor for the job.

Bob reported that the cost of materials for the picnic table that Sam Wood is building for the common grounds as an Eagle Scout project will be approximately one hundred dollars.

Alice had obtained quotations from two contractors for mowing for this year, but none, as yet, from the contractor who had mowed the common grounds last year. As the two quotations were several hundred dollars higher that what we had paid for mowing last year, the Board agreed to check with last year's contractor, and to have him mow again this year if his price remained substantially lower than the others.

Mike Lee is working on arrangements to clear away the brush trimmings left from our late fall clean-up effort. A small number of volunteers from the neighborhood showed up to help in the spring clean-up on the 17th of April. The Board thanks those who participated.

Dues for 2004

Lars reported that dues payments for the 2004 assessment had been received for sixty-four of the sixty-nine homes as of April 19th.

Homeowner Disclosure Packets

Homeowner Disclosure Packets -- Bob Naftal reported that he had updated the homeowner disclosure packet master copy to insure that the Association's information packet complies with requirements.

Minutes Approved

The minutes for the February meeting of the Board were unanimously approved as published.

Next Meeting

Board members will meet in May at the home of Judy and Mike Lee. The May meeting will start at 7:15 pm on Monday, May 10th.

INFORMATION NOTICE:

While the minutes above were being prepared members of the Board learned that AAA has offered to meet the price offered by American Disposal Service, the alternative trash hauler whose information Bob Naftal provided last month. Like American Disposal, AAA is offering a rate of $21.95 per month per home, billed quarterly, with the rate guaranteed for one year except for disposal charge increases that may be levied by Fairfax County. The one year period is May 1, 2004, to April 30, 2005. Residents who want the $21.95 monthly rate without changing to American Disposal should contact AAA at 703-818-8222 and mention the Ascot Homeowners rate proposal signed on April 16th by AAA Contracts Administrator Yvonne Montgomery. -- To avoid unnecessary complications, the Board asks anyone who submitted the form to sign up with American Disposal but who would now prefer to stay with AAA to please contact Bob Naftal this week and let him know not to pass your name to American Disposal.
