Ascot Homeowners Association The Ascot Homeowners Association Board of Directors met at the home of Lars and Dunbar Okeson on the 9th of February, 2004, beginning at 7:15 pm. All five Board members were present -- Bob Naftal, Mike Lee, Lars Okeson, Alice Burns, and Scott Rackham. Common Grounds Lars Okeson reported that he contacted Andy Robinson, Chairman of the Board of the Piney Run Homeowners Association, to ask about the mass of branches and fallen tree from Isabel on the Piney Run common grounds on the west side of Bishopsgate where it crosses the creek. Mr. Robinson told Lars that the Reston Park Authority, not the Piney Run Homeowners Association, is responsible for the maintenance of the land along the creek. Lars will try to contact the Reston Park Authority to follow up. Bob Naftal will track down the name of the arborist who spoke to our association in 2002 regarding trimming, or selling and replacing, the leyland cypress trees around the tennis court. For discussion at the next meeting, Alice Burns will prepare suggestions for possible landscaping improvements on the common grounds. Dues for 2004 Lars reported that as of February 9th dues payments for the 2004 assessment of $110 per lot had been received for forty of the sixty-nine homes. Homeowners who have not yet paid should mail their dues payment to the Association's Post Office Box by the end of February. The mailing address is Ascot Homeowners Association, PO Box 934, Great Falls, VA 22066. Homeowners who wish to make corrections or additions to their information in the recently distributed Directory may submit their changes with their annual dues payment, or may send them to the Board via email. Budget Lars presented a final tabulation of income and expenses for 2003. Those final figures for 2003 will be added to the Ascot Homeowners Association income and expense information for 2001 through 2003 that is posted with the 2004 budget at www.ascotwalk.org/budget.html on the Association's Web site. Homeowner Disclosure Packets Homeowner Disclosure Packets -- Bob Naftal will review and update a set of the documents in the Homeowner Disclosure Packets that we are required to have available for new or prospective homeowners in the community. We will then create several matching sets of the documents to ensure that any Board member will have access to a set of the documents and will be able to deliver a copy of the documents on short notice. Alice Burns will remain the preferred point of contact for obtaining disclosure packets, as she keeps several packages on hand and available for distribution. Neighborhood Watch Members of the Board feel that it would serve the community interest to re-invigorate the Neighborhood Watch. Bob Naftal will contact Ann Marckesano to solicit her comments on what's involved and how best to proceed. We will be looking for volunteers to coordinate the Neighborhood Watch effort. Neighbors interested in volunteering for this community service are invited to contact any board member. Next Meeting Board members agreed to meet in March at the home of Bob and Debra Naftal. The time was set for 7:15 pm on Monday, March 22. Respectfully submitted, Scott Rackham Correction and addition to the Neighborhood Directory: Please mark your copy of the Directory to correct the typo in the spelling of the Celluzzi family's last name. And please add Rachel Haman to the listing of those available for babysitting or pet sitting. |
