Ascot Homeowners Association The Ascot Board of Directors held their January meeting at the home of Judy and Mike Lee on the 12th of January, 2004, beginning at 7:15 pm. Four Board members were present -- Bob Naftal, Mike Lee, Lars Okeson, and Scott Rackham. Architectural Standards Guidance The Board approved a change in the Association's architectural standards guidance document to acknowledge that Federal law expressly protects satellite antennae smaller than one meter in diameter from restrictions imposed by a homeowners association. The remainder of the architectural standards document remains as it has been since at least 1988. The revised document may be viewed online at the Ascot Web site. Common Grounds There is a pile of cut branches and other residue from the November clean-up work on the common ground near Piney Run that needs to be cleared off. When the weather permits, the Broad intends to have the branches and tree limbs shredded for use in mulching a path to the creek. Lars Okeson will contact the Piney Run Homeowners Association to ask whether they might clean up the mass of branches and fallen tree from Isabel on the Piney Run common grounds just north of Ascot Section 1 on the west side of Bishopsgate where it crosses the creek. If they do not clean it up, Ascot will consider doing it. The Board will be making arrangements by early spring for mowing, bush hogging, and care of the trees around the tennis court. Dues for 2004 Dues notices requesting payment of the 2004 assessment of $110 per lot were distributed with the December minutes. Homeowners are asked to mail their dues payments to the Association's Post Office Box by the end of February. Homeowners Directory for 2004 The Ascot Neighborhood Directory, updated for 2004, has now been printed and distributed. This year's directory was compiled, designed, edited, produced, and distributed through time and effort contributed by Sounia Chaney, Colleen Juergensen, Patty Leto, Lisa Barker, and Alice Burns. The Board thanks them on behalf of the community. Homeowners are advised to hold on to their copies of the Neighborhood Directory, as it contains information, such as telephone numbers, personal email addresses, and family member listings, that will not be available on the Ascot Web site. Homeowners who wish to make corrections or additions to their Directory information should submit their changes with their annual dues payment, or send them via email to the Board. Ascot Web Site Homeowners who have community notices they would like posted on the Ascot Web site may contact any Board member. The shared email address for Board members is posted on the Ascot Web site, at www.ascotwalk.org. Other Administration Budget -- Lars will expect to have final cash flow figures for 2003 in time for the February Board meeting. Homeowner Disclosure Packets -- At the next meeting Board members intend to review Virginia's requirements for Homeowners Association disclosure packets for new homeowners and confirm that we have all the up-to-date information and documents on hand. We will consider ways to ensure that any Board member will have access to a set of the documents and will be able to deliver a copy of the documents on short notice. Next Meeting The Ascot Homeowners Association Board of Directors will next meet on Monday, February 9, 2004, at the home of Lars and Dunbar Okeson. Respectfully submitted, Correction and additions to Neighborhood Directory: Please mark your copy of the Directory to correct the typo in the spelling of the Micsan family's last name. And please add Julia Micsan and JoAnna Wood to the listing of those available for babysitting or pet sitting. |
